Detective Division Cold Case Unit makes arrest in 2004 murder on the Sprain Brook Parkway.

Yesterday afternoon, members of the Yonkers Police Department Detective Division Cold Case Unit arrested a male named Alberto Plasencia in connection with the death of Marie McSweeney. The victim was killed on April 24, 2004 while driving her vehicle on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers. An object was thrown from an overpass, which subsequently struck the victim and caused her vehicle to veer off of the roadway. The suspect is 26 years of age and he resides at 611 Bronx River Road, he was booked for Murder 2nd degree.

This arrest comes after the culmination of an extensive investigation by the Yonkers Police Department Cold Case Unit, particularly the work of Detective John Geiss. The Yonkers Police Department is currently working with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and there are ongoing court proceedings at this time. Due to these proceedings and continuing investigation by this agency no further information will be released at this time.
